Halloween -Afternoon Practice

I wanted to find another yogajournal.com sequence and came across 'Vishnu's Repose'. This sequence is listed as beginner and recommends a block, strap and blanket. I used another mat to sit on at the beginning and the rest of the sequence has a lot of grabbing a hold of the big toe or hands clasped behind the back.
Since I'm flexible in those ways, I didn't need a strap or block. However, for those who are not, the block and strap will help a lot. I enjoyed this sequence. It was perfect for the middle of my day today as I want to continue with calming my mind. Namaste.

Halloween

Happy Halloween! I have an upcoming trip that I'm pretty anxious about and this morning I was feeling a lot of tightness in my chest. I found a really relaxing sequence instructed by Esther Ekhart of yogatic.
It is labeled as a beginner, energizing sequence. Short and sweet, perfect for the start of my day. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=_06A3IzrBQU

October 28th, 2011

Good Morning and happy Friday! As you know, Friday is busy for me. I found a nice quick yoga routine uploaded by RachhLoves. She's really easy to follow but doesn't seem to hold the poses for very long, I would've liked for it to be a little longer but short and sweet is good for this day. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E73kaKw3ouI

October 27th, 2011 - Evening Practice

I had saved a nice detox yoga sequence to my favorites to try. I believe this is filmed in the Netherlands. The instructor sometimes translates in Dutch.
I liked this sequence. It was very easy to follow, and there is another woman demonstrating the modified poses. The sequence is perfect for any detoxing. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6hX-NzYuso&feature=related

October 27th, 2011

This afternoon, I wanted to try some more kundalini yoga. I found an upload under spiritvoyage that has a sequence instructed by Anne Novak. I enjoyed her previous sequence I had done as did I enjoy this one.
The sequence is very intense as with most of the moving kriyas you are doing breath of fire. By the time I was sitting in meditation, energy was coursing through my body. The frog movement was lots of fun and started to get my legs and butt sore.
Since none of the poses are difficult and Anne offers up some modifications, I feel most yogis could do this sequence and thoroughly enjoy it. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiWDwhQRVQg&feature=related

October 26th, 2011 - MidDay Practice

I turned to yogajournal.com again today for a nice sequence that helps to twist the body into side crane. It is listed as an intermediate, but I'm sure beginners could easily attempt doing side crane. Must start somewhere. The rest of the sequence is several twists.
I have had difficulty before with side crane. I practiced awhile before even being able to go into crane. I am pretty stoked today as I could do side crane easily! I noticed I can get up easier when facing to my right than left. Enjoy! http://www.yogajournal.com/video/178

October 26th, 2011

Good Morning. I remember doing a sequence with this woman before, uploaded under UmojaYoga. She's easy to follow if you listen more and don't watch the screen (she moves slower than her voice in most cases). Great sequence of balancing poses though. It's always good to get your balance for the start of the day. Remember, don't get frustrated if you can't hold a pose for long. You have to work at balancing poses. You'll get there. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNLkDKNvx34&feature=related

October 25th, 2011 - Afternoon Sequence

Good Afternoon! I wanted a fairly quick sequence this afternoon. I found one on yogajournal.com called 'Healthy Twist'.
This sequence is designed to help with digestion. It's listed as a beginner's sequence, and they recommend using a yoga block. For advanced yogis, one can do the sequence without the aid of a block, like I did.
I love throwing in these twisting sequences; they really help to even out the inside body. I feel great now, energetic, time to move on with the rest of the day. Namaste.

October 25th, 2011

Good Morning! Here's another sequence I had come across earlier and saved to my favorites to try later. At some points, the wind blows right into the mic so it's hard to hear. Other than that, I enjoyed the sequence a lot, it got me sweating and my muscles working. Plus, she was easy to follow. Perfect for this fine Tuesday morning. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGCBCTM28Yc&feature=related

October 24th, 2011 - Evening Practice

Still feeling a bit high strung this evening, I was needing a longer sequence that would get out some of my energy. I had saved this one to my favorites to try. Another upload by HolmTV entitled Yoga Flow 101.
It was perfect. I sweat. All yogis should be able to accomplish this sequence. A block may be needed for triangle pose, or you could just hold on to your shin.
I'm going to go relax more before bedtime. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYhBFAr8mzo&feature=related

October 24th, 2011 - Afternoon Practice

I found a fun advanced sequence uploaded by HolmTV called Yoga with Les: Intermediate Vinyasa. Although this is intermediate, modifications are available or do what I did, I just held a pose I was in if I couldn't do the more advanced pose.
It definitely got me sweating and it was a lot of fun. Les is easy to follow. I feel energized!

October 24th, 2011

Good Morning! I found another lovely short sequence on yogajournal.com. It's listed for beginners and recommends a blanket and block. The block isn't needed, of course, if you can fully go into the pose. Short and sweet. http://www.yogajournal.com/video/174

October 23rd, 2011

Good Morning! I found a really energizing somewhat intermediate yoga sequence uploaded by HolmTV. It starts off with some quick sun salutations to get the heart pumping, perfect for the morning.
Afterward, there are some balancing poses. I say 'intermediate' because she does headstand and wheel that she doesn't exactly give modifications to fall back on. If you cannot do wheel, do bridge. If you cannot do headstand fully, I suggest a tripod (hands below head like a triangle, knees on elbows). Eventually, with practice, the harder poses follow.

October 22nd, 2011

Happy Saturday! My Saturday has been fantastic so far. I've been waiting to try this sequence for the perfect time; today is IT!
I found a yogatoday sequence instructed by Neesha to do while on your menstrual cycle. The whole purpose of the sequence is to aid in moving the energy (prana) down and out. It also helps with cramps. Make sure to have some yoga blocks and a bolster or blanket to lay on at the end.
Very relaxing and easy. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mChI17yrOXM

October 21st, 2011 - Afternoon Sequence

Good Afternoon. Like I've mentioned before, Fridays are a busy day for me. I have to find time to do a quick yoga sequence. I know it's good for me to break away and do a short sequence to relax my mind and body.
I think...people take smoke breaks, I take yoga breaks. I found a new instructor, uploaded by sunroseyoga. She's doing this sequence after getting out of bed, but I think it is also perfect for a mid-day sequence.
The sequence is easy to follow and loosens up the shoulders and neck. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heSnT_T1TtY

October 20th, 2011 -Evening Sequence

Well, it was a crazy busy day. I was so looking forward to my yoga tonight and am I ever pleased.
A bad ass sequence uploaded by yogatoday and instructed by Sarah Kline. It's entitled 'Renewing Our Rhythms'. In this sequence, you do lots and I mean LOTS of the breath of fire. All to help get rid of stress and help glands. I loved it. I started sweating as well and bet I will feel some tightness in my abs tomorrow.
I believe all yogis could do this sequence but may find holding plank and breathing the breath of fire for 3 minutes rather challenging. Sarah offers modifications though.

October 19th, 2011-Afternoon Practice

Good Afternoon. It's a beautiful day here today in San Antonio. I have my window open and a cool air blowing in.
I wanted to do a sequence with a bit of heat. I found one on yogajournal.com that was put together by Kathryn Budig. It's considered an intermediate sequence but don't fear beginners! Yoga isn't about being perfect. It's about connecting the breath, letting the breath flow through the body. Don't over do it. Just have fun!

October 19th, 2011

Morning, yogis! I found a new instructor Sarah Starr. She instructs this seated practice perfect for the office.
It includes several stretches and breathing that you can do all while sitting. You don't leave your chair at all. I know several people work in an office and often don't leave their desk to loosen up or just get away.
A sequence like this one will help to break up that monotony in the body. Your body needs breaks at least 5 minutes an hour. Enjoy!

October 18th, 2011

Morning! I found a quick easy morning sequence to help loosen up those muscles. All yogis should easily be able to do this routine. Happy Tuesday! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eduJNJ__FY

October 17th, 2011-Afternoon Sequence

This afternoon, I wanted a quick energizing sequence and found the perfect upload by YogaDownload. Easy to follow with lots of energizing moves (e.g. standing splits, half moon).
It's great to do this in the middle of the day especially if you are at work. Good break from the desk or any type of work you may do. It'll re-energize you and help you through the rest of the work day.

October 17th, 2011

Good Morning. Another beautiful Monday morning and a new sequence by YogaVidyaEnglish. Although this class is marked as intermediate, I believe all yogis could easily do this sequence. The sequence begins with breathing exercises followed by a quick yoga flow and ending with savasana. While in savasana, he instructs the tightening of muscles before the release into relaxation.
With the breathing and poses (specifically shouldstand and plow), I find this sequence perfect for morning. It will help you energize to begin your day. Namaste.

October 14th, 2011 -Afternoon Practice

Good Afternoon! The afternoon is over the hump and the work day is half way over. I wanted to do another 'fat burning' sequence uploaded by YogaZone.
Jean instructs this class as well. As with the first fat burning sequence, you do several moving poses where you move with the breath. Your muscles start to burn and yet you don't feel exhausted from the sequence. Lots of fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnCPMZiqcnU

October 14th, 2011

Good Morning, yogis. I wanted to try another sequence from yogajournal.com. I found a nice hip opening sequence which worked great since my hips were a little tight this morning. Easy to follow with modifications if you need them. Enjoy! http://www.yogajournal.com/video/176

Thursday, October 13, 2011

October 13th, 2011-Evening Practice

Youtube was running slowly so I found a nice intermediate sequence on yogajournal.com The finale of this sequence was 'wild thing' which is somewhat like a wheel or backbend. Some of the poses in this could be difficult for beginners but modifications are mentioned. Enjoy! http://www.yogajournal.com/video/181/

October 13th, 2011

Good Afternoon, yogis. I ran EARLY this morning so didn't do my yoga until the afternoon. I found another upload from YogaZone for weight loss.
Al instructs this beginner lesson. I still found it fun though. Even though it says for weight loss, there's not any sweating. Hope you enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WP26O9o2q0&feature=related

October 12th, 2011 - Afternoon Practice

What a beautiful day and afternoon this is. Amazing just feeling at peace with everything, that is why I do yoga. This afternoon, I wanted to try something else by YogaZone.
Jean (along with Douglas again) instructs this flexibility sequence. I'm rather flexible and have been from my youth (I was in dance and gymnastics). I believe flexibility is extremely important for your body.
Flexibility keeps the body active, helps to prevent injury and keeps you young. I hope you enjoy this sequence. Nothing too crazy here, just do your best and never push yourself past your limits. Namaste.

October 12th, 2011

Good morning, yogis. I just finished a fantastic flowing sequence from YogaZone. Jean instructed this 'fat burning' sequence.
Perfect way to start my morning. My blood is flowing, my heart racing and a little sweat. As always, there were modifications she notated when poses were more difficult. She usually did the modifications while the gentleman held the more advanced poses. And, yet the poses I wouldn't say were intermediate. Happy Wednesday! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7Gi1uM1Erk&NR=1

October 11th, 2011 -Evening Practice

Good evening, yogis. I turned again to YogaZone this evening as I wanted to try the 2nd Evening stress release sequence, this one instructed by Beverly.
I've found that all YogaZone uploads are easy to follow and for yogis or all levels. Each instructor has offered a modified version of any difficult poses. I feel great, ready to read and relax more. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KEr4akypeg&feature=related

October 11th, 2011 -Afternoon Practice

I really love the uploads by yogayak if you have time to do them. I decided to do one this afternoon. It's more for intermediate yogis, however beginners could easily do the class with a yoga block and belt.
More advanced poses like crane can be attempted. She instructs though that you can try 'crow' pose or stay in a squat. Also, headstand is included, one of my favorites. She does a yogi headstand. You can start practicing for headstand against a wall with your hands on the floor like a tripod then putting your knees on your elbows. It helps to build strength in your core this way so sooner or later, you'll make it all the way up into the air.
I started off that way, then advanced into a tripod headstand. Once I was able to hold that with ease, I conquered the yogi headstand. Most of this is core work.

October 11th, 2011

I found a great morning sequence uploaded by YogaZone. It really ties in the energy plus stretching that bodies need in the morning after all that rest.
The instructor is someone new named Al. Jennifer and he go through the poses while instructing with ease. I feel amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PjDIp0cqDo

October 10th, 2011 - Evening Sequence

Good Evening fellow yogis. I had specifically bookmarked an evening stress release sequence from YogaZone thinking I hadn't done it before. Lo and behold, I have.
That's okay though. Charles was great. I feel relaxed, ready to go read in bed. Namaste.

October 10th, 2011

After a weekend of no working out and no yoga, I was more than ready to step back into the mix.
Since I knew work would be busy, I did a short vinyasa flow uploaded by yogatic. Super easy, super short. ENJOY! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEDlkBi8uwI

October 7th, 2011 Afternoon Practice

Fridays are always crazy busy for me. It's good to have a little break during all the craziness to re-align and de-stress the body and mind. This short sequence instructed by Neesha from yogatoday is perfect for that. Breathe and enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/user/yogatoday#p/u/57/FZyqe7Xe_D8

October 7th, 2011

Good Morning and Happy Friday, yogis. I hope this morning finds everyone in a fantastic mood ready to conquer the day. I found a nice 15 minute sequence uploaded by IlanaProudPoser who is a certified yoga instructor out of California.
The sequence volume is a little low so I recommend making sure your speakers are turned up. Ilana is easy to follow and moves quickly to get the blood flowing. Perfect for morning. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtIGpKEBDg4

October 6th, 2011 - Office Sequence

Good Afternoon, yogis! I found a fantastic office sequence or to offset sitting at a desk uploaded by SadieNardini. She instructs how to loosen up the neck and shoulder muscles and also how to re-energize the body and mind by doing some inverts.

October 6th, 2011

Good Morning, happy Thursday! Feeling extremely happy this morning and wanted to do a yoga sequence to reflect that feeling.
I found a great morning sequence uploaded by yogatic. Esther is always so fun to do yoga with, short and easy to follow for yogis of all sorts. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/user/yogatic#p/u/35/3QsD-M4f5pk

October 5th, 2011 - Office Sequence

When work is crazy busy and you sit at a desk all day long, it's good to take breaks where you get up, walk around or :-) do yoga.
I found another office yoga sequence that Neesha of yogatoday instructs. It's really quick but definitely helpful in helping to ease the shoulder and neck muscles.

October 5th, 2011

Good Morning fellow yogis! Last night I did a search for what I planned on doing this morning. I searched for sequences by YogaZone and found a total body conditioning sequence.
Most of these aren't actually uploaded by them but by another beginner yogi.
Lisa instructs this sequence. Super easy to follow, no difficult postures.
The sequence is for allowing the breath to flow more through the body and keep the body young. Any modifications are mentioned and yogis of all sorts could easily do this practice. I feel ready to begin the day. Namaste! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcnvqURm0x0

October 4th, 2011 - Evening Sequence

After drinking Sleepytime tea, already feeling much relaxation in my body, I found a sequence uploaded by yogatic for evening. As always, Esther is super easy to follow. I would definitely recommend a belt or like I said before, I use my exercise band. It will help with stretching and going deeper into the poses.
Now, feeling even more relaxed, I believe it's time for bed. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JnleAjgV9I&feature=related

October 4th, 2011 -Mid Morning Practice

Wanted to do a short mid-morning sequence, for fun. I typed in 'short yoga' and found an upload by tarancollis. Super easy to follow and just relaxing, quiets the mind. I loved it.

October 4th, 2011

Good Morning! I wanted to do a short sequence this morning to energize my body. I found one uploaded by annenovak1 that's a kundalini practice.
Anne is very easy to follow. You begin with a mantra for empowerment, which she explains. During the sequence, most poses are done with 'breath of fire'. She also explains and demonstrates that.
I found this very easy to follow and I really DO feel more energized. What a beautiful morning! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4M6J5A85Fw

October 3rd, 2011 - Night Time Sequence

For my bedtime sequence, I found an upload from asktheyogaexpert. Unfortunately, it's not a full class, at the end it mentions how you can subscribe month to month. Nevertheless, what was on there was lots of fun and relaxing.
The instructor uses a lot of audible exhalations to calm the body and mind after the day. I enjoyed it a lot even though I'm not super sleepy. Hopefully, you'll enjoy this short sequence too. I'm sure it could be used at any time of day to just un-stress. Namaste! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VmAry9N9Zo

October 3rd, 2011 - Evening Sequence

Good Evening, I decided to do a sequence after dinner. I found one someone uploaded that is instructed by Rodney Yee.
It was definitely someone recorded from Discovery Health (in Spanish). Well, the whole practice is in English, the commercials that interrupt are in Spanish. If you can get over that, which I did and just moved the mouse to where the sequence began again, it's a great sequence. He's very easy to follow; yogis of all sorts will find the instructions rather easy.

October 3rd, 2011

My morning practice today is brought to you by...cissyyoga1. Haha.
B.K.S. Iyengar is known in the yoga world for being a master yogi and teacher. Iyengar yoga was derived from his teachings. I did a search specifically for 'Iyengar yoga' and found the video uploaded by cissyyoga1.
I found this perfect for this morning, short and sweet. Easy to follow. I would recommend a strap or belt for yogis that are not as flexible in the shoulders. Enjoy!

October 2nd, 2011 - Post Work Out

After my workout, which today was dancing, I wanted to look up a yoga sequence to aid with post workout stretching. I found one that's divided into two videos. Instructions were very easy for yogis of all levels.
I feel at ease now, ready to continue with the day.

October 2nd, 2011

Good Morning! Happy Sunday. I wanted to do a longer class this morning but nothing too active.
I found another upload from YogaDownload, a Gentle Hatha flow. Again, this is the instructor that has pictures rather than an active model demonstrating. Once again, very easy to follow with the instructions alone. I feel invigorated and ready to continue on with my day.

October 1st, 2011 - Afternoon Practice

For part of my workout today, I ran. I wanted something to help ease my body back to normal after running. Have to make sure the joints and muscles stay healthy.
I found an upload by rachelbreedingyoga. I'm very pleased with this sequence. It's not too long. Rachel is a great instructor, easy to follow. She explains when to breathe and names of poses. Perfect for all yogis. At the end of this sequence, instead of resting in savasana (corpse pose), you rest with your legs up the wall. Namaste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tZ1fCW8cpQ&feature=related

October 1st, 2011

Good Morning! Happy 1st day of October. I wanted to do a short morning sequence this morning before my actual workout. I found one uploaded by amandameehan1.
Amanda was super easy to follow; I feel much looser in my body. My neck and shoulders were rather tense when I woke up, most likely due to how I was sleeping. Time to continue on with the day.
